Darke County Center for the Arts will present Mermaid Theatre’s production of Swimmy, Frederick, and Inch by Inch at Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall in Greenville on Sunday, January 23 at 2 p.m. “These beloved Leo Lionni books will spring to life right before your very eyes,” said DCCA Artistic Director Keith Rawlins. “The beautiful images and whimsical texts of these classics blend perfectly with internationally acclaimed Mermaid Theatre’s gentle storytelling style,” Rawlins continued.

Swimmy, a tiny fish in the vast ocean, uses his ingenuity to fend off danger, as does the inchworm featured in Inch by Inch. Frederick, a mouse who is a poet from “the tip of his nose to the end of his tale,” uses his unique gifts to create beautiful experiences for others. “Mermaid Theatre’s adaptation of these Caldecott-honored books will enthrall youngsters and delight adults, creating happy memories for all concerned,” Mr. Rawlins concluded.

Swimmy, Frederick, and Inch by Inch is the second presentation in DCCA’s Family Theatre Series which is sponsored by DP&L Company Foundation, Midmark Corporation, Second National Bank, HOPE Foundation, Greenville Federal, The Andersons, Gordon Orthodontics, Edison Community College, Wayne Hospital, Greenville Kiwanis Club, Greenville Rotary Club, Jordan Insurance Agency, Criterion Club, and Dan and Marty Schipfer. DCCA also receives support from Harry D. and Esther Stephens Memorial, Lydia E. Schaurer Memorial Trust Fund, and Ketrow Foundation. In addition, the Ohio Arts Council helps fund Darke County Center for the Arts with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence, and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.

Tickets for Swimmy, Frederick, and Inch by Inch are $5, and can be reserved by contacting DCCA at 937-547-0908 or dcca@centerforarts.net. Tickets are also available at Readmore’s Hallmark in downtown Greenville and Worch Memorial Public Library in Versailles, and if any remain by showtime, will be available at the door the day of the performance.
