Robert J. Grilliot age 94 of Yorkshire, Ohio, passed away at 10:20 P.M. on Monday, November 8, 2010 at Versailles Health Care Center. Robert was born January 20, 1916 in Sidney, Ohio, to the late Clarence L. and Elizabeth C. (Frantz) Grilliot.

Robert was a retired farmer. He formerly worked at Minster Canning Company, where he was the farm manager. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, stationed at Pearl Harbor. Robert was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles. He was a lifetime member of the Versailles Knights of Columbus; Osgood American Legion and Versailles V.F.W.

In addition to his parents, Robert is also preceded in death by his wife, Elsie M. (Schlecty) Grilliot on September 19, 2005, whom he married November 9, 1966; and brothers, sisters and in-laws, Ralph and Alma (Bruns) Grilliot, Marjorie and Otto Kremer, Omer and Mary (Crites) Grilliot, Evelyn and Vernon Hull, June and Herbert Schlarman, Edward and Mara (Popova) Grilliot, Ralph Harlett, Noah Simons, Lois (Bruggeman) Grilliot, Fredrick and Margie (Higgins) Grilliot and Martin Grilliot; and 2 nieces.

Robert is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia Harlett of Bryon Center, Michigan, Kate Simons of Versailles, Milrita and Richard Goodell of Franklin, North Carolina, and Helena and Wilfred Bruns of Tipp City; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and JoAnn Grilliot of Delphos, Elmer Grilliot of Yorkshire, Carl and Thelma Grilliot of Loxahatchee, Florida, Clarence and Doris Grilliot of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and Louis and Kathy Grilliot of New Knoxville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 9:30 A.M. at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. David Vincent celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Saturday morning from 8:00 to 9:00 A.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Osgood American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Hospice.
