On October 25, 2010 at approximately 11:30 AM the Darke County Drug Task Force consisting of the Darke County Sheriff’s Office and the Greenville Police Department responded to an active methamphetamine drug lab at 222½ Euclid Street in the City of Greenville. Also responding to the scene was the City of Greenville Fire Department, Greenville Township Rescue and the Darke County Animal Shelter. The Darke County Clan Lab Unit forced entry into the residence when the occupants refused to open the door. Two adult females were removed from the residence. Once inside deputies found evidence that the occupants were in the middle of manufacturing methamphetamine when task force officers made entry.

Arrested was Johna Wood, age 45 of that address. Wood was booked into the Darke County Jail pending charges for Illegal Manufacturing of Methamphetamine. A second adult female was interviewed and released from the scene. She is unidentified since she was not arrested and no charges are filed at this time.

Two dogs were removed from the residence and turned over to the Darke County Animal Shelter.

All emergency responders remained on the scene for most of the day while the lab was dismantled and evidence collected. A private contractor responded to dispose of the hazardous materials.

No other residents were home at the time in the additional units at this address; therefore no evacuation was necessary or conducted. Nearby residents were advised of the situation and given the option to leave or shelter in place with windows and doors closed.

There was no fire or injuries as a result of this incident. This case remains under investigation.

    >Can someone tell me what a criminal looks like? Who needs the police when you have the idiot at the top who can just pick them out. Why don't you get a job as an officer and just start arresting people because you know what a criminal looks like. I for one say the Darke County Drug Task Force is the best police work money can buy for our community. Great Work guys.

    >I agree, you can't judge a drug user by their appearance. They are the parents of your kid's friends, teachers, coaches… You should always use caution.

    >How do you look up the arrest information for a person?

  13. #13 by Darke Journal on October 26, 2010 - 10:57 pm

    >Why am I not listing the other person's name? Because I do not know this information myself – and I don't take tips from anonymous commenters.
