>DCCA PRESENTS SINGER/SONGWRITER KARLA BONOFF

>

Singer/songwriter Karla Bonoff will perform many of her own songs made famous by other singers as well as those which became hits for their composer at Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall in Greenville on Saturday, November 13. The second of Darke County Center for the Arts 2010-2011 Artists Series presentations, the show will begin at 8 p.m.

Bonoff’s well-known compositions include “Someone to Lay Down Beside Me, “Somebody’s Eyes,” and “Please Be the One.” According to DCCA Artistic Director Keith Rawlins, Bonoff is one of the finest singer/songwriters of her generation. “Karla has enjoyed critical acclaim, commercial success, and respect from her peers,” Rawlins stated. “Many of her songs have become pop classics, hits for such stars as Bonnie Raitt, Wynonna Judd, and Linda Rondstadt. But to hear Karla perform her anthems of heartache and joy can be a transformative experience,” Rawlins concluded.

Midmark Corporation is sponsoring the Karla Bonoff concert; Darke County Center for the Arts also receives support from Harry D. and Esther Stephens Memorial, Lydia E. Schaurer Memorial Trust Fund, and Ketrow Foundation. In addition, the Ohio Arts Council helps fund DCCA with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence, and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.

Tickets for the Karla Bonoff show are $20, and may be reserved by contacting DCCA at 937-547-0908 or dcca@centerforarts.net. Tickets are also available at DCCA’s office within Greenville Public Library, or at the door if any remain by showtime.
