Wayne Healthcare has donated funds to Darke County Center for the Arts to sponsor the local arts council’s 2010/2011 Family Theatre Series. “DCCA is grateful for the generous and loyal support that Wayne Healthcare has provided for many years, making it possible to present high quality professional theatrical productions for children in our community at an affordable ticket price,” remarked Strait. “It is encouraging to know that our local hospital cares not only for the physical health of Darke County’s residents, but is also committed to supporting the creativity and vitality generated through the arts,” she concluded.
The goal of DCCA’s Family Theatre Series is to encourage cultural enrichment in our community, inspire the imaginations of the young and young at heart, and encourage the expression of creativity. The series attracts a wide-ranging audience that includes many preschool children enjoying their first theater experience, as well as senior citizens who enjoy the shows’ strong depiction of traditional values.
Performance times are scheduled to fit conveniently into most schedules at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoons. DCCA’s 2010/2011 Family Theatre Series will consist of ArtsPower’s musical theatre presentation of The Rainbow Fish on November 14, 2010. Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia turns Leo Lionni’s books Frederick, Swimmy, and Inch By Inch into a creative and delightful show scheduled for January 23, 2011. Additionally, Leland Faulkner’s World of Wonders will introduce children to the lost art of shadowgraphs and classical magic from the Far East on March 13, 2011.
General admission tickets are $5, or purchase all three shows in the series for a discounted price of $12.
