>DCCA ANNOUNCES GHOST WALK TOUR GUIDES AND ACTORS

>

Darke County Center for the Arts annual Ghost Walk cast will include a few new members as well as some familiar faces this year, according to DCCA Artistic Director Keith Rawlins. “We’ve recruited a couple of new actors, and some favorite past participants are returning, including a character called Dedus Canby, who I understand may drag his coffin to the festivities,” Rawlins stated. The Ghost Walk, which starts at Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall at 7:30 each evening, is scheduled for Halloween weekend – Friday, October 29, Saturday, October 30, and Sunday October 31.

The Ghost Walk cast includes Bob and Diane Bitner, Michael Bitner, John and Karen Burkett, Phyllis Corbin, Larry and Marilyn Delk, Lynn Foureman, Natalie House, Jim Kelch, and Mr. Rawlins, as well as Tim and Katheleen Nealeigh, who are returning as tour guides after an absence of a few years. Dedus Canby, Rawlins explains, is a character developed and personified by Mr. Nealeigh which adds a certain air of authenticity to the event.

The ghost stories told are based on tales collected by Arcanum resident Rita Arnold, who has published several volumes recounting spooky local happenings. Her Ghosts of Darke County series will be available for sale at St. Clair Memorial Hall prior to and following the Ghost Walk tours.

On Friday, October 29, a tour guide will lead a “No Walk Ghost Walk” within St. Clair Memorial Hall for those who would prefer to not take part in the lengthy trek through downtown Greenville. Potential Ghost Walk participants are reminded that some walking tour sites include uneven terrain and may be located in dimly lighted areas. Also, as in years past, Ghost Walk will be held regardless of weather conditions; if seriously inclement weather occurs, all of the stories will be told indoors.

Additionally, Greenville Masonic Lodge #143 Craft Club will be serving refreshments at St. Clair Memorial Hall before and after the event. Tickets for the Ghost Walk cost $10, and can be purchased at DCCA’s office located on the third floor of Greenville Public Library, as well as at Ann’s Gifts and Readmore’s Hallmark in downtown Greenville; tickets will also be available at the door. Tickets may also be reserved by contacting DCCA at 937-547-0908 or dcca@centerforarts.com. Coupons for $1 off on advance ticket purchases are available at local libraries in Arcanum, Bradford, Greenville, New Madison, and Versailles.
