Freshman orientation is scheduled at the Greenville Sr. High School on Wednesday, August 18th from 10-12 and also from 6-7 and students and their parents are encouraged to stop by the PTSA membership table to join for the 2010-2011 school year. The PTSA is the Parent Teacher Student Association, comprised of a group of parents, students, and school representatives who meet to discuss school-related concerns, plan activities and raise money to support students from GSHS.

Every year a scholarship is given to a graduating young man and young woman that is a member of the PTSA. In 2010 the PTSA awarded $500 college scholarships to two seniors, Tray Riffle and Holly Bruner. In addition the PTSA contributed money to help other seniors, who were making an effort to pay off their fees, so they could graduate.

Fundraising efforts include the annual Spaghetti Dinner held in conjunction with the Waves of Pride, to be held in the spring. Also Pie Peddler pies will be available for sampling at the Freshman orientation. Sales order forms will also be available that day, with delivery in time for Thanksgiving.

PTSA meets on the second Monday of each month of school at 6:00 pm in the Senior High Media Center, and adult memberships are $5.00 while students are only $4.00. Officers for the 2010-2011 year are Treva Riffle, Pres.– Patsy Vannoy, VP– Teresa Ramge, Treasurer and Carlton Bowers, Secretary. Parents and students are encouraged to get involved in this worthwhile organization.
