>Local Students and Teachers Attend MVCTC Career Camp

>The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) recently held their annual Career Camp for students in grades six through ten. This year over 80 students from MVCTC’s 27 partner schools attended Career Camp at the school’s Hoke Road campus in Clayton.

For over 20 years, MVCTC has been offering the career exploration camp for junior high students, offering them hands-on experience in a number of careers, taught by MVCTC current students and staff members. During the camp, students visited the Agriculture Science, Architectural Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Trades, Graphic Art, and Masonry programs, and completed hands-on projects in each of these labs.

For the fifth year, MVCTC offered a “Teacher Career Camp” in conjunction with the Student Career Camp. This event was available for teachers from the 27 partner schools to attend and learn more about the career programs offered at MVCTC. The teachers attending camp were able to visit the same programs as the students and complete similar hands on projects. Over 25 local teachers attended this year’s career camp.

For more information about MVCTC and the 50 career programs and academic opportunities for high school juniors and seniors, please visit www.mvctc.com. There are still openings for high school juniors and seniors to enroll for the 2010-2011 school year. Please call 937-837-7781 for more information.
