>Another Good Samaritan Home currently under renovation

>

The story below documented that 12 sex offenders were living in three Greenville homes owned by John and Kathleen Graham, presumably as part of Graham’s Good Samaritan Home program. John Graham is listed as the director of the Good Samaritan Home on its website.

It is now confirmed (via the county auditor’s website) that Good Samaritan Home, Inc. has an additional residence at 615 East Fourth Street, Greenville. The property was bought in September 2009 for $13,000. Unlike the other three homes, this one is listed in the name of Good Samaritan Home, Inc.

It is unknown whether anyone is currently occupying this residence. The photo to the right shows apparent ongoing renovations. No sex offenders are listed as residing at 615 East Fourth Street on the Darke County Sheriff’s website. An update on Greenville’s zoning regulations will follow.

    >Has this man been a life long darke county resident or is he a transplant?? Not that it matters, but most of us homegrown darke countians love our county and want to make it the best place to raise our families, not a place for dumping sexual predators to worry about. I was just curious about that!

    >I would guess it's the money, I'll bet the state pays real well for someone to take those folks in.Those neighborhoods have enough problems as it is without John Graham moving sexual offenders in as well.

    >am I misunderstanding the zoning regs when it seems as though they should forbid this sort of thing? Are the existing ones grandfathered in?DJ – maybe turn off the comments to the zoning post so that all comments can come to one place? I foresee a flood of 2 separate streams of comments on the relative same subject.

    >When the sex crime rate soars….lets not sit around scratching our heads wondering why!!

    >What can we do? The ordinance seems to allow this nonsense to continue. How do we protect our town?

    >We can TAKE BACK OUR COMMUNITY, it may take some time, but i have faith… stay tuned

    >vote every council member off! Yes YOU if you are reading this.

  8. #8 by Kathy on June 5, 2010 - 12:26 pm

    >What does council members have to do with this? They did pass an ordiance In july 2009 that prevents this from happening again… Why don't you get off your back side and get out and do something to help the community in stead of placing blame.

    >This is nuts!! I remember when the first one was started that there weere petitions going around to try to stop them, obviously that didn't do any good so what exactly CAN we do? Something that will actually help??

    >Repeat: Follow the money. Word has it that Mr. Graham is building a rather expansive, and expensive, residence in Florida.

    >I think everyone that left a comment here is jumping the gun.AS is stated in the report on THIS site there IS NO SEX OFFENDER LIVING AT THIS ADDRESS.Not that I am for this but until some one slips up or does wrong let the man make a living.Do you know how hard it is for some one fresh out of prison to find a place to live?Let alone a job?If there sex offenders they shouldnt evan be on the streets but if there non violant offenders give them a chance

    >Good, he can go where ever he wishes as long as it isn't in my town!

  13. #13 by Anonymous on June 6, 2010 - 1:21 pm

    >@dukeblackohio – you are right there are no sex offenders living at this particular location (yet) – in fact by the looks of the residence it might not be ready to live in. If we are going by past experience there will be multiple sex offenders living at this location. He has other residences where this is the case. In fact, some of these residences are near a school which these individuals are not supposed to be living (so where are their probation officers requiring them to move?). I also believe that noviolent offenders should be able to make something of themselves when they are released; however, I don't believe they DESERVE that right anything from anyone. They lost that when they committed their crimes. Now the burden of proving themselves as worthy members of society falls 100% on them. They have the responsibility to prove to society that they can be productive members; society does not have the responsibility to provide opportunities to them or to anyone for that matter. John Graham is essentially doing a good service for these individuals (I don't think anyone is arguing that) but I think people want him to abide by zoning laws and other laws about the number of individuals and types of offenders living under 1 roof & be totally transparent concerning the funding & profit around these residences. It's sad but true both most offenders (sexual or otherwise) repeat their crimes – & maybe people are reacting on hysteria but can you blame them?

    >dukeblackohio: I think you are very naive' and you most certainly are in the minority here with your viewpoint. Why should Greenville be housing sexual predators from other counties far removed from Darke? And, are you not aware that most sexual offenders are never rehabilitated? As a previous commenter said, it is not a matter IF another offense is committed by one of them, it is just a matter of WHEN.

    >Just a heads my inlaws do this in DAyton. They get paid by the county to take in these people. They say they help get them on there feet, but really they just collect the money and allow them to live on the other side of the house. Trust me, I havent visited them in 5 years, because in their house is 5 men who all have been convicted and done time for RAPE. I refuse to place my children int the care of them for the weekend, when people freely walk in and out of the house.

    >Quick question…according to the "Changes in Greenville's Zoning Regulations" the facility can house 4 offenders but the Ludlow street address lists 6 residents. Do they allow this because more than four lived previous to the zoning reg change? Can the PD, city council, or the neighbors enforce the new regulation ? … "The applicant shall provide a plan indicating the manner in which the facility will maintain contact with neighborhood residents, including as tructured procedure whereby neighbor’s grievances may be filed and resolved"AND if Mr Graham moves to Florida as some of the other posts suggest who will monitor these residences? Just because he's leaving doesn't mean he's taking his "ministry" with him.

    >Not very Christian are you all?

  18. #18 by JME on June 6, 2010 - 7:18 pm

    >Lynda, have you taken in any of these sex offenders into your home? My guess is no. You probably do not live on the same block as these convicted sex offenders and rapists do. This has nothing to do with being a Christian. I am a Christian but I believe in keeping our children and community safe. Can you imagine being a child and having to walk past these homes on your way to school? Lynda, do you not care about the safety of our innocent children? Not very Christian of you Lynda.

  19. #19 by CS on June 6, 2010 - 9:46 pm

    >Kudos to you 10:02 & 10:17, very valid points that you make and you 10:17 having the courigous to say the truth about money being the main motivator for this type housing. Lynda, shame on you! Just what does being a Christian have to do with this in the very least?? Just because you may go to church on Sunday does NOT make you a Christian. How dare you insult us like that!

    >Mr Graham is making this money from tax payers, from $300-600 per person. the tax payer can stop this but the ppl that run this town dont care bc they get their checks from the tax payer too

  21. #21 by Anonymous on June 7, 2010 - 12:26 pm

    >This whole thing is appauling to me! That this once small nice community can become a dumpsite for these rapists and sex offenders. I don't get how we let this happen!

  22. #22 by dukeblackohio on June 8, 2010 - 4:22 am

    >Alex b .If you would have read my comment you would know that I said they shouldnt evan be on the streets.and as far as ever body talking bout being cristions back when this religion started they would have killed them on the spot for this crime. So I dont think no body needs to be saying some one is or isnt a cristion.

    >Lynda, I'm not. Got a problem with that? It simply shows your ignorance.
